Are you an expat or immigrant who wants to feel at home in The Netherlands and therefore wants to learn Dutch?
Do you want to focus on speaking Dutch in daily Dutch situations instead of just 'knowing' the words and grammar rules?
(But still learn all the grammar and tools to build a good foundation?)
And are you done with feeling insecure when you're talking to your child's teacher or chit-chatting with your neighbor?
Then join one of these courses and feel confident when you speak Dutch in public because of my proven ABCD strategy!
These will be your results
A1: You have a solid foundation and you will speak your first sentences in Dutch. No more 'ja' and 'nee' but full responses;
A2: You've made your foundation even stronger and you're now able to have basic conversations in Dutch;
B1: You've moved from answering questions to initiating conversations in Dutch.
Join now and start whenever you want. You can login at any time you prefer and learn Dutch through videos, audio, worksheets, online games and quizzes. It's up to you when you do the lessons.
This course is super flexible.
Each lesson has a speaking and/or writing assignment. Send your submission and you'll get personal and professional feedback from me (Vivian).

βYou're a complete beginner, level 0
OR
βYou know some words, maybe some grammar but you can't make sentences and you don't speak Dutch in public. You haven't taken a course. And the self-study methods you used didn't give you a proper foundation of the Dutch language.
You're at level A1 (approximately) but you're still a beginner. You did an A1 course or you did self-study.
You know:
- how to conjugate verbs in the present tense;
- how to form the future tense;
- the modal verbs and how to conjugate them.
The goals of the A0-A1 course are relatively easy for you.
Example of Dutch sentences you can make:
β Mijn naam is Hans.
β Hoe heet jij?
β Ik ga vandaag werken.
β Ik ben 25 jaar.
β Ik ga morgen naar mijn vriendin.
You're at level A2 (approximately) because you took courses or did lots of self-study.
You know:
- how to use the past tense;
- how to form sentences with conjunctions (maar, omdat, want, etc);
- how conjunctions and adverbs of sequence can affect the word order in a sentence.
The goals of the A1-A2 course are relatively easy for you.
Example of Dutch sentences you can make:
β Vandaag ga ik niet werken, want ik ben ziek.
β Zal ik je helpen?
β In de tuin staan mooie bloemen.
β Ik heb gisteren met een vriendin geshopt.

As a certified teacher (since 2015), a former assessor of the integration exam and a native speaker, I love seeing my students improve their Dutch language skills and gain confidence.

β wants to feel confident in daily Dutch situations;
β wants to learn Dutch in a flexible way;
β likes self-studying and wants an organized way of learning, instead of searching for content on their own;
β wants to get feedback from a certified teacher and native speaker;
β actually wants to speak Dutch, instead of learning just grammar;
β wants to be part of an awesome community of like-minded people;
β has a basic knowledge of the English language.
These courses are flexible. You can start when you want.
The recommended pace is one module per week, eight weeks in total. You have three years of access to the materials and Vivian's help and feedback.
Most students need around 6 hours per week to complete one module. This time investment depends on your personal factors.
If you get the premium package, I recommend completing one module per week so you can get the most out of the conversation sessions.
Both! Work through the lectures at your own pace. If you follow the structure of this course, you will complete the course in only 8 weeks! But take
all the time you need.
You'll get access to the online learning platform and you can check out the modules at your own pace. You'll get videos, audio, exercises, games, quizzes and assignments. This is all self-paced. If you get the DIYplus or Premium package, you'll get extra assignments to work on your writing and speaking skills. Vivian will check those personally.
Any questions or do you want feedback? Your teacher Vivian is the host of the online community and is happy to help you!
When you join the course, you'll get a 14-day money-back guarantee meaning you will get your money back if it's not something for you. If you haven't tested more than 1-2 modules and if you email me within 14 days.
And check this video to get a look inside the course. This video is an example of the A1 course (A2 and B1.1. have the same set-up). (I show you what it looks like when you're on your laptop but you can do the course on your phone as well):
The DIY package and DIYPLUS package are 100% flexible. You can learn Dutch whenever you want. The difference is that you'll get feedback on your writing/speaking skills and pronunciation by Vivian if you get the DIYPLUS package. You can submit speaking/writing assignments and Vivian will send you her feedback (text/voice message).
The DIY package is without this personalized feedback. When you join the DIY course, you'll still get exercises to work on speaking, writing, listening and reading skills (as well as grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary, etc.). These will be corrected by the system.
The premium package is for those who want to study more intensively. You'll get 8 conversation sessions on Zoom to practice your Dutch with other students and your teacher Vivian. During every session, you'll be put in a breakout room with 1 or 2 other students. You'll get speaking exercises that are in line with the content of the modules. Vivian is there to guide you. You'll get the most out of these sessions if you complete one module per week.
These courses are something for you if you need something flexible instead of a fixed schedule.
You'll get access to my online learning platform andthe DIY and DIYplus package is 100% flexible. I recommend the Premium package if you want a more intensive program and if you want to complete the course in 8-10 weeks.
This course is NOT for you if you want a regular course with multiple Zoom sessions per week with a fixed schedule. This is not a course with sessions in which I teach and you (and the rest of the group) listen. Why? Because I know that keeping up with a group is hard (because of the schedule and because you might learn faster or slower than the other students).
Yes! I have a bundle offer!
If you add the A1 course to your cart and click on 'proceed to checkout', you'll get the offer to purchase the A2 (and B1) course at 15% off.
If you want to purchase the A2 + B1 course, then add the A2 course to your cart and you'll get the offer to get 15% off of the B1.1. course.
This bundle discount is not available for the premium package because the premium package requires your to join conversation sessions and you can't take 2 different sessions at once. If you want, you can purchase the premium package for your first course and the DIYplus package for your second (and third) course. You can upgrade from DIYplus to Premium if I decide to start a new round.
If you're currently abroad and if you want to pass the A1 MVV exam, I recommend following my A1 course in combination with studying the materials from naarnederland.nl. With my A1 course, you'll get a strong foundation to pass the exam and build confidence to speak Dutch immediately after moving here. When you move here, you can immediately continue with A2.
When you finish my A2 course, your level will be a solid A2 and you'll be ready to prepare for the exams. The preparation phase will take a few days and I recommend doing that by taking the practice exams from the government (inburgeren.nl). If you want extra materials to pass the A2 speaking exam, I recommend my 'A2 speaking exam prep essentials' which are available for 37,- ex VAT. I used to be an assessor for the A2 speaking exam and in these materials, I share all the insights to help you pass this exam.
The B1.1. course will help you get to level B1.
If you need to take the B1 integration exam, I suggest taking my B1.2. course afterwards too. This course will be available later in 2025. Then your level will be B1/B1+ and with the help of the free practice materials from the government, you can prepare for the exam. My B1 courses will make preparing a lot more easy.
Yes! After completing the course, you'll get a certification of participation/completion so that you can prove you've took lessons.
Please note that any certificate from any school is not legit when it comes to proving you're at a certain level. The only way you can do this is by taking an official exam by DUO. But of course, my certificate will help when an employer asks if you've taken lessons.
After the 8 modules, you'll get an exam/test that tests your understanding of the modules, your writing, reading and listening skills.
With all packages, you can either pay the full amount right away or you can pay in two or three installments. The first installment will be paid right away and the second (and third) payment will be automatically charged exactly one (and two) month(s) from the first payment. If you decide to pay in two or three installments, you pay a few euros extra because of administration costs. After the final installment, there are no additional costs.
I would never want you to be unhappy! If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, contact me within 14 days of purchasing and I will refund you the money.
If you live in the NL or EU, customers need to pay VAT. This is 21%
I mention the prices on my website in two ways: 'ex VAT' and 'incl VAT'. If you live outside of the EU, you don't need to pay VAT.
For instance, someone who's living in the NL pays 286,77,- for the DIYplus package and someone who's living in Canada pays 237,- for that same package.
I'm happy to help you with any questions you have. Send me an email (docent.vivian@vivodutch.com) and I will respond as soon as possible.
