The A1-A2 course is the best fit when:
You're at level A1 (approximately) but you're still a beginner. You did an A1 course or you did self-study.
You know:
- how to conjugate verbs in the present tense;
- how to form the future tense;
- the modal verbs and how to conjugate them.

The unique ABCD strategy
The ABCD strategy consists of four phases:
Absorb
Learning a new language starts with absorbing like a sponge. You’ll start with listening and reading with the exercises in this course. In this phase the focus lies on understanding the language and not on producing it.
Building blocks
These are the tools and knowledge you need to achieve your goal. This could be grammar, vocabulary, or useful phrases.
Consolidation
Time for guided action! All the building blocks are combined into a format, so you can practice before speaking in public. Visualize yourself in the daily Dutch situation and rehearse. You’ll get videos to speak along so you’ll feel confident before going to the last phase.

When does the course start and finish?
This course has no start or end date. You can start today if you want! You determine your own pace. The recommended pace is one module per week, eight weeks in total.
It's developed for the expat who wants a self-paced course with guidance from a teacher and a community, to stay motivated. You will get access to the course for 2 years, so don't worry! You can take your time. During that time, you will remain a member of the online Facebook community, you will get support from your teacher Vivian and she will correct your submitted assignments.
Is this course interactive or self-paced online?
Both! Work through the lectures at your own pace. If you follow the structure of this course, you will reach A2 in only 8 weeks! But take all the time you need. Any questions or do you want feedback? Your teacher Vivian is the host of the online community and is happy to help you!

Is this course something for me?
This course is for beginners with level A1. You can make basic sentences but you still feel insecure in public. And the past tense freaks you out. You want to speak Dutch! You might have taken Dutch classes or you've worked on the basics by yourself.
This course is NOT for you if you want a regular course with multiple Zoom sessions per week with a fixed schedule. This is not a course like that. Why? Because I know that keeping up with a group is hard (because of the schedule and because you might learn faster or slower than the other students).
Will I get a certificate?
Yes! After completing the course, you'll get a certification of participation/completion so that you can prove you've taken lessons.
Please note that any certificate from any school is not legit when it comes to proving you're at a certain level. The only way you can do this is by taking an official exam by DUO. But of course, my certificate will help when an employer asks if you've taken lessons.
What is level A2?
This course will get you from A1-ish to A2(+)!
An ability to deal with simple, straightforward information and begin to express oneself in familiar contexts.
Examples:
- Can take part in a routine conversation on simple predictable topics;
- Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment);
- Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters;
- Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
